How to make a QR code in Canva, Adobe, or free
Canva and Adobe Express can both add a QR code to a design. But if you only need the QR image — not a whole poster — a dedicated free generator is faster and needs no account. Here are all three methods, plus how to make a QR code for a Facebook page.
How to generate a QR code in Canva
Canva has a built-in QR app, so you can drop a code straight into a design:
- Open your design (or a blank one) and click Apps in the left toolbar.
- Search for QR Code and open the app.
- Paste the URL you want the code to open, then click Generate QR code.
- The QR is added to your canvas — drag, resize, and recolour it to fit the design.
- Use Share → Download to export the whole design as PNG, JPG, or PDF.
This is ideal when the QR belongs inside a flyer or social post you're already building in Canva. If you just want the code by itself, keep reading — there's a quicker route.

Create a free QR code ->How to make a QR code in Adobe Express
Adobe Express has a free QR code generator on the web:
- Go to Adobe Express and open the QR code generator tool.
- Enter the link you want to encode.
- Pick a colour and (optionally) a shape or frame.
- Download the QR as PNG, SVG, or add it to an Express design.
Adobe Express and Canva both work well, but they ask you to sign in and load a full design editor. For a one-off code that's more steps than you need.
The faster free way (no Canva, no Adobe)
If you just want the QR image, a dedicated generator is quicker and stays free with no account:
- Open the free QR code generator.
- Choose your type — URL, WiFi, vCard, PDF, and more.
- Enter your data and pick high-contrast colours.
- Download PNG or JPG for screens, or SVG for sharp print.
Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded — which matters when the payload is a WiFi password or personal contact card. Want a branded code? Use the QR code with logo tool.
How to make a QR code for Facebook
A Facebook QR code is just a QR that opens your page or profile URL. To make one:
- Open your Facebook page or profile and copy its URL from the address bar (for example
facebook.com/yourpage). - Paste that link into the URL QR code generator.
- Download the QR and add it to your flyer, storefront, or packaging.
Facebook also has a built-in QR for personal profiles (Menu → QR code), but a URL QR works for pages, groups, and events too — and you control the design.
Which method should you use?
- Building a poster or social graphic? Add the QR inside Canva or Adobe Express so it sits in your layout.
- Just need the code? Use the free QR generator — fewer steps, no signup, PNG/SVG export.
- Sharing sensitive data (WiFi, contacts)? Prefer a browser-only tool that never uploads what you type.
Before you print
Whichever tool you use, test the code on more than one phone, keep strong contrast, and size it correctly for the distance people scan from — see the QR code size guide and design tips.
