What to include in a student CV
You don't need years of work experience to build a strong CV. Here's what matters most for students in Pakistan.
Education — your biggest asset
List your current degree, institution (FAST, LUMS, NUST, UET, IBA etc.), expected graduation year, and CGPA if 3.0+. If you're in A-Levels or Matric, list results and subjects.
Technical and soft skills
Coding languages, tools, software, design apps, languages you speak — list them clearly. Soft skills like teamwork and problem-solving are worth mentioning too.
Projects and coursework
Final Year Project, semester projects, group assignments that demonstrate real skills — include them. Mention what you built and what technology you used.
Societies, events, and volunteering
Were you in a student society, organised events, or participated in competitions or hackathons? These show initiative and are highly valued by Pakistani employers hiring students.
LinkedIn and portfolio
Add your LinkedIn profile, GitHub, Behance, or portfolio website. Kodotools CV Maker lets you add custom social links that appear as clickable links in the downloaded PDF.
Tips for internship applications in Pakistan
Keep it one page
Internship recruiters spend seconds scanning CVs. One tight page beats two half-empty ones every time.
Tailor to the role
Move the most relevant skills to the top. Applying for a software internship? List technical skills first. Marketing internship? Lead with communication and campaigns.
Use numbers where possible
"Managed social media for 3,000+ follower page" is stronger than "Managed social media." Any number — even small ones — adds credibility.
Use a clean ATS template
Major Pakistani companies (HBL, Unilever, P&G, tech firms) use ATS software. Use Classic or Minimal template in Kodotools for best ATS compatibility.
FAQ
Student CV questions answered
Can I build a CV while still in university?
Absolutely. Most internship applications require a CV even in second or third year. Use "Expected Graduation: [Year]" in the education section. You don't need to have finished your degree.
What format should I save my CV in?
Always send as PDF. It preserves your formatting exactly. Kodotools downloads your CV as a PDF automatically — no conversion needed.
Do Pakistani companies use ATS for student hiring?
Yes — large corporations and multinationals operating in Pakistan (Unilever, P&G, Nestle, HBL, tech companies) use ATS systems. Always use a clean, single-column template for these applications.
Will my CV be saved if I close the browser?
Yes. Your CV autosaves to your browser's local storage. Come back on the same device and browser and it'll be there. Use Export JSON to save a backup file you can reload on any device.
