How it works

A QR code can only store text — usually a URL. You host the PDF elsewhere and put that link in the QR. Scanning opens the URL (download or preview depends on the host).

Sharing permissions

If you use Google Drive or Dropbox, set the file to “anyone with the link” (or your preferred access). The QR cannot bypass those settings.

Document URL

We only embed the link in the QR — the file stays on your host.

Customise

PNG, JPG, SVG, and copy use this pixel size. Live preview stays the same while editing.

Square logos work best. We use higher error correction when a logo is present.

How it works

Link your PDF in three steps

01

Host the file

Upload to cloud storage or your website and copy a shareable https:// link.

02

Paste the URL

We turn the link into a QR. No file is sent to us.

03

Download & print

PNG, JPG, or SVG — put the QR on posters, menus, or packaging.

FAQ

PDF link QR questions

Do you host my PDF? +

No. We never receive your file. The QR only stores the URL you paste. You keep hosting the document where you already put it.

Can I use Google Drive or Dropbox? +

Yes. Create a share link, set permissions for your audience, then paste that link here. The QR is just a shortcut to that URL.

What if I update the file? +

If the link stays the same (e.g. you replace the file in Drive), scanners see the new version. If the host gives you a new URL, generate a new QR.

How do I make a QR code for a PDF for free? +

Host the PDF somewhere with a public link (Google Drive, Dropbox, or your website), copy that link, paste it into the field above, and download the QR as PNG or SVG. It's free, needs no signup, and the code never expires.

Can I generate a PDF QR code without uploading the file? +

Yes. This free PDF QR code generator never receives your file — it only encodes the link you paste. The PDF stays on your own host, so nothing is uploaded to Kodotools.

Is this free? +

Yes — no signup and no watermark from Kodotools.
